How can I identify a Thoroughbred horse with lost papers?

The horse has the tattoo legible on his lip. Is that the same ·# as his registry ·#? Is there a data base on the web I can go to, that will tell me who my horse´s bloodline goes back to, his registered TB name, and all that? Thanks!

  1. Yes, The letter represents the year the number the reg. no. They go through the alphabet A-Z and then start over again at A. You would have to go to the Jockey Club and pay a fee if you want the info. Post the tatoo , s*x, color and markings, approx age. here and I will look it up for you. How clear is the tatoo. Anything that can be read more than 1 way list for me.
