I am deathly afraid of spiders. I saw a massive spider. It was roughly the size of two quarters together. I've seen two so far in my room. It seemed black, and it had what looked like almost like a bar with red and white spot-like pattern. I'm whigging out here please help. For now I'm sleeping in my sister's room. Omg im so scared.... help..

  1. I'd say it's probably not venomous but time to break down and clean your room!

  2. Don't pay any attention to Gonzo87.  He doesn't know what he's talking about.  It is NOT a Black Widow.

To be able to tell whether a spider is venomous or not you need to know what kinds of those spiders occur in your area.  Knowledge and understanding of something will always alleviate fear.

Spiders are actually wonderful creatures and nothing to be afraid of.  Remember, even the biggest spider is no where near as big as you.  You are larger, faster, smarter, more intelligent, and a lot more dangerous to them, than "any" spider is of you.

99.9% of spiders are harmless to humans.  If it were not for spiders, we would not exist, because our world would be overrun by insects and other spiders.  Spiders help control the populations of Flies, Gnats, Crickets, Aphids, Cockroaches, Termites, Mosquitoes, and many, many others.  Would you rather have one little spider in your home, or 100 Cockroaches.  Think about that.

There are NO Black Widow Spiders in the world that fit your description.  To know what spider that is I would need to know where you live and see a photo of it. Sounds like a beautiful animal to me.  Email me with a photo if you want.

  3. Black widows have big butts with a red marking on it. Brown Recluses are well, brown and live in old places where no one really goes in a while, atticks, old suitcases and such. Im deathly afraid of spiders too and if i were you id be doing the exact same thing. I personally would just run away from them all. im sure they all could bite if they really wanted and they all are horrifying!

  4. All spiders are venomous, that is how they subdue their prey... However, most spiders' fangs are too small or they do not have the musculature to inject venom into a human and do not present a danger to humans. From the sounds of it, the spiders you are describing are either a common Wolf spider or Cellar spider. Wolf spiders and Cellar Spiders can grow quite large and can bite humans but do not present much of a danger. You did not say where you live but Brown Recluse spiders are found in only small parts of the United States. Black widows of which there are a few species found in the United States are completely black except for a red hour glass or two red dots on the under side of their abdomen. This does not describe your spider. In all likelihood these spiders accidentally got into your home and you really have nothing to worry about... Even if it is a black widow or brown recluse, their bites rarely lead to death but can be very painful. So relax... Ask your dad, brother or someone brave to catch and remove/kill it when you see them and then you can sleep without fear. Best of luck!

  5. its a black widow, it is the most potently venomous spider in north america and most of the world, and causes the most deaths. it has probably found a nice hiding spot and will come out when you are sleeping. just dont step on it our youll surely die. they usually crawl on people when they are sleeping, so dont sleep or you are going to die. i assume you are already dead since posting this question. i hope not. good luck
