How can I import songs from my 8GB iPod touch to my iMac?

I used to import all songs from my laptop to my iPod touch but I recently lost my laptop, along with all the songs. This was before the new firmware came out. Now I would like to upgrade to the new firmware through iTunes with my iMac, which has no songs on it. I had 374 songs that I put on my iPod from my laptop, and want to know how to transfer them over to my mac so I can upgrade, then be able to put the same songs back on my iPod. I'd like to know if it's possible to transfer the songs from my 8GB iPod touch over to my iMac, and how. Thank you!

  1. You should be able to use Senuti to do this.  It's a little piece of software which parses your Itunes Library File in reverse.  Senuti is the word iTunes in reverse!  It works like iTunes in reverse - you take music off your iPod and put it on your Mac, heh heh

This is the blurb off the website:

"Unlock your iPod with Senuti, a simple application that allows you to transfer songs from your iPod to your computer"

I use it to take music off my 80GB iPod Classic and put it onto my iMac so it should work with the Touch.  Essentially, the software looks like a trimmed down iTunes and you can select music from your iPod and transfer it across to your Mac easily.  It even tells you if the music on the Touch is already on the Mac (not useful this time, but great if you ever want to go and fill up your iPod with a friends music ;-)

It's donationware for the last stable release but you might be able to get the new beta for free (Senuti 0.50.2b8)

I think I grabbed a licence key for the last proper release after I got hold of Serial Box or iSerial from a torrent site but the beta should be fine to do what you need to do.  It's well worth buying to be honest ($18 for a lifetime of after care support and upgrades)
