My friend put his videos on a flash drive and put them on my mac. They are all perfectly visible in iphoto & quick time, but when I try to import them into imovie it says they aren't compatible. He has a Kodak. I have a Casio and it works with no problem.

  1. You can try the DVD Video Converter Suite for Mac, it can help Mac OS X users not only rip DVD to AVI, MP4, MPEG, MOV, but also finish conversions among all common video format like convert AVI to MP4, convert MPEG to AVI, etc. With the DVD Converter Suite for Mac, you can easily put your favorite DVD and video on iPhone, iPod, PSP, Zune, Apple TV, etc.

  2. You need to check what type of files the videos are. Most likely, iMovie is only going to recognize a certain file type, so you might need to convert them before they will work.
