I am looking for some real advise/criticism on my form, draw, stance etc.

Here is a link to a video of me shooting.

P.S. Do you think the arrow "spine" is correct for my bow?

  1. Not my area of expertise. there must be a Bow Club somewhere near your home. There should be a Club Pro or other instructor around.

  2. From what I could see you are fine all the way around.

  3. Form looks ok to me...follow through and you are doing fine.  as they all say here practice practice practice!!!!!

  4. looks good

  5. Your form looks good, but try and hold the grip as if there is thorns on it. That basically means hold if soft. but other wise everything else looks good

  6. YOUR GROUPING IS FINE,ARROW LENGTH SEEMS OK.

IF YOU WERE MEASURED FOR YOUR DRAW AND THE

ARROWS COINSIDE ,THEN THEY ARE FINE.

YOU MAY WANT TO HOLD YOUR DRAW HAND AT

ANCHOR ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SHOT AND

UNTIL THE AROOW IS AT THE TARGET FACE.

I WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND YOU TURN YOUR

FOREFOOT AT THE TARGET AND DRAW ACROSS

YOUR BODY. THAT WAY YOU WON'T PULL THE BOW

    AWAY TO YOUR LEFT.

STILL, GOOD GROUP WITH NO SIGHT OR KISSER

  7. Your form doesn't look bad....Make sure you follow through on all you shots.....Try using a mechanical release.

  8. Practice makes perfect......

  9. practic makes perfect!

  10. PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!

  11. actually i think ur doing well but wen u getting ready to shoot turn it horizantal and align it corrrectly turn it bak slowlly for better shooting acuracy then pull bak slowly then let go practice theze steps and then u willl learn how to do it faster .. hoped i helped P3@cE

  12. OK. To start, I don't see your group as a problem. I would suggest an anchor point. I worked for many years in my best friends bow store, and I found that the problem with accuracy is being consistent. Try focusing on letting the string go when the string crosses a specific point on your face . Sometimes I see the release came when the string was in the corner of your nose, and other times when it was half way. I suggest learning to use a kisser button on the string or maybe just make the effort to place the string on the same spot all the time. All in all, shooting a recurve is a challenge.

Now go take a White Tail!!!

  13. practice, practice ,practice practice................................... more practice

  14. I can't really tell cuz that link is blocked tahnks to the USAF system's Internet firewall. If ur using a compound bow, make sure that when you hold the bow (arrow off) that if you open your hand (the one holding the bow) that the bow is completely balanced in your hand. If not you need to consider adding forward weights or possibly taking some off. If this is set correct you should be able to only hold the bow with your index finger wrapped around the handle and the rest of your fingers pointing towards your target. This is used to try and eliminate the tendancy to "peek" or snap your wrist forward immediately after the shot. When you shoot naturally you have a tendency to snap your wrist forward and drop the bow just to see if you hit your target. True form should go from the stance, all the way until your release (which should have no movement whatsoever other than your finger pulling the release. Even after the shot your bow should remain up and pointing at the target. This allows you to not drop the bow in an effort to see if you hit the target. Don't worry about where you hit. The arrow will still be in the same place you put it on the target when you get there. Ofcourse this goes without saying but practice at this and soon you will be able to concentrate more on the shot and less on the form because you will be able to make perfect form every time without even thinking about it.

Also remember to keep that index fonger in, cuz if you don't and you are using open blade broadhead, ur gonna have a nasty cut if not lose that finger.

  15. Take a set of lessons from a qualified professional coach.  This is not my sport, but I can 3 things you might try to see if it helps.

    1. left toes at the target.

    2. Draw the right hand to your chin first.

    3. Push the bow to the target with your left arm until it is straight.

The group looks good, but try these hints to see if it improves.

My expertise is visual analysis of athletes on snow so a quick look can tell you a great deal.  Good luck.

Your release is before your left arm is straight hence the left hand will move slightly with each shot.

  16. Looked like you had decent form and even a decent group. The arrow is the the right one for your draw weight. Just keep shooting!

  17. Form looks alright, nice clean release.  Try to just lightly wrap your bow fingers around the bow.  It doesn't take mush to hold the bow in your hand securely, relax those fingers and let the bow push against your palm.  Straighten out the bow arm, without locking the elbow.  Most barebow shooters like to cant their bows to get a better sight picture, have you ever tried that?

The arrow spine is a bit stiff, you are shooting an arrow spined for a bow the is 45-60lbs and at 29" it is on the stiff side of that range.  But nothing you can do there, besides, stiff arrows will still group well as opposed to weak ones.  You can shoot an arrow that is 10lbs to stiff and still be fine but shoot one that is only 5 lbs too weak and you'd be in trouble.

  18. you hold your bow to tight and your arrows look a little long.

  19. hi there

your form seems to be fine , your arrows are about an inch to long, the one bad thing i noticed was , your bow hand drops at release, try very hard to hold your bow on target till your arrow hits same with your release hand ,the bow drop could account for your low grouping. have fun shoot safe.
