  1. Could be a couple of problems. First, your antenna may be old, or the connections bad, or loose. The cable wire could be bad too.Try switching them around, with the ones where you get good reception.

It could also be that TV set, is past it's prime.

So if the set isn't too heavy, take it to another location, where you are getting good reception, and try it out.

It is going to take, switching and changing, to determine the problem.

  2. Start by checking the antenna & antenna wire by substitution. If you have a VCR or video game, use it to check the tuner on the TV.

If all the parts work fine, then the problem is the location of the TV's antenna.

Indoor antennas are very sensitive to location. Find out which direction the TV signals are coming from, and ask yourself;  what's different about what the TV signal is going through between the antenna locations that work and don't work?

A length of RG-6 coax cable will be handy, you can try moving the antenna around looking for a TV signals sweet spot.

TV signals are reflected by flat metal objects like ducts, metal siding, foil backed insulation, chicken wire used in stucco application, wire screens. They are absorbed by dirt, water, concrete.
