  1. all you have to do is practice. have someone bump or set over, ball just touching the top of the net. block it. repeat 50 times. then practice someone spiking it, u block it. that helped me.

    good luck!!

  2. keep your eyes on the ball [ALWAYS]

do excatly what u would do 4 a spike just use both ur arms and dont swing....

4 exercises 2 improve do 5 sets of 3 block approaches against the net.

after you do one block do a transition step backwards [shuffel back 2 ur position] and do it again but in middle

go from front left to middle to front right.

this should improve your jumping skills and help get u more accurate.

    Good Luck!!!!!

  3. are you 2 step blocking or 3 step blocking also known as swing blocking

  4. do well

  5. bend down and then up, your jump will be better.

    as my coach says

    it's all in the hop

  6. Well, improving your block just takes practice and a few tips- first, don't "shuffle" (like you do in basketball) to where you're blocking- RUN there.  Also, remember to get as high a jump as you possibly can- it really helps to have really long arms and good-sized hands.  :-p I know someone else already said this, but tilt your hands slightly towards each other and SLIGHTLY bend your fingers so it look like you're in a setting posistion but not so extreme as one (confusing but you have to see it done)- once you get contact with the volleyball, SMACK it down  :-D

  7. well you have to be able to get up to the net. sot he higher you jump the better it is. i think you can like walk around with ankle weights and right before your game take it off. it`s supposed to make you be able to jump higher

  8. Mke sure to jump high, otherwise the ball will go in the net, or you'll touch the net and the ref will call it on you. Good luck w/ your game!

  9. Anticipate on instinct.  Don't think to much.

    I know nothing about volleyball.

  10. Blocking is all about timing. Before you jump, you want to keep the variables to a minimum. Ready position should be heels up slightly, knees bent, and hands held in front of you about ear height. You should be able to see your fingernails (not that you are really going ot check it out too much!). When you bend (squat)  to jump, maintain your  hand height (don't drop them) and extend your legs and arms up at the same time. Try to keep your head between your arms and look up with your eyes, not by picking up your chin. Keep your hand spread and try to push your palms over the net. If you can't jump that high, try to seal the net or make your hands be an extension of the net. Remember, you are trying to stop the ball from coming over the net. The further the ball is set off the net, the later you have to jump. Practice your timing vs. different sets. Also, try to take away the hitters best shot...usually cross court.

  11. Well, the main point of a block is to block the ball before it goes over the net. So you need to make sure your timing is right, which is wait until the ball i right over the net and tip or use both hands to push it on to the other side of the net! If you go up to early or late you will miss the ball, and if you don't crouch down all the way and jump using your legs you won't get high enough to block the ball! So just keep these things in mind when you go up to block!

  12. to get better at blocking you should work on both your jumping ability and your timing...you need both to jump off the ground high enough at teh precise time to block the ball effectively!!

  13. line your block up with their swinging arm.

  14. you can improve your block by practicing jumping high with slitly tilting your hands over the net.

  15. Well, if you run stairs it builds up your leg muscles so you can jump higher. I run up and down 3 sets of stairs everyday at practice and it has really improved my jumping and blocking.
