I currently do 38.40 in 50 m breastroke and 29.33 in 50m freestyle. In order to go to the Mexican Nationals, I should do 36.41 in breastroke and 27.52 in freestyle. I would really like to go, and i just have been swimming for 11 months. I would appreciate any tips you give me in order to accomplish those timings, thank you

  1. im a swimmer to,

but im more of a butterflyer :)

    but anyways,

the tips i always use to get where..

    be streamline! ,

    take a longer pull

    stretch out,

dont slow down the last couple of metres( i always use to do that) as after the race you have all that time.

train hard in training, go faster etc

    and overall

just try your absolute best! overall its only 2 fiftys.

    much love xox

  2. It is all about technique nothing I can tell you over the Internet it is stuff you have to learn first hand.

I will try though, first start by making sure that your hands are positioned properly all fingers together and forming a semi-circle cup kind of shape and practice that.

Next practice your kicking tight small powerful kicks that do not break the waters surface are typically the best.

Finally the other best hint I can give you is practice breathing and holding your breath if you can get those techniques down and hold your breath longer you will do better.

  3. I am not much of a breaststroker as I'm built wrong for it. I'm more of a butterflyer. HOWEVER. At practice, over spring break, my coach's son (who is an Olympic caliber swimmer) had us do some drills with breaststroke.

With breaststroke, you want to have a good underwater pull. Start in a tight streamline and then pull your arms down and give a butterfly kick starting when your hands are about at your head.  Then, finish up your normal way. One thing we practiced was swimming the short way across the pool and doing one stroke per lane. This made us get our butts up as, when your butt is down, you slow way down.

As for freestyle, have a hard, fast kick and really get your elbows up. Try not to breathe as breathing slows you way, way down. Your starts are extremely important, too, so make sure you explode off the block.

    =)

  4. practice, practice, practice!

also make sure your starts and turns are perfect because people tend to mess up on them & they are really important in sprints.

    good luck!

  5. I can help you if you describe your style in those strokes that you doing now,  In breaststoke most swimmers make the mistake of bringing there upper body out of the water, this only works if you have a very powerfull kick, try staying on the surface, this gives you less resistance and streamline!!!

What type of training are you doing?

  6. Practice.
