Question:

How can I improve my concentration and rid my mind of other thoughts?

I love learning new things but cannot stick at them for a long enough period to fully understand them.

Either I lose interest too quickly or my mind is focussed on other things - mostly irrelevant stuff, not worry or stress.

  1. Your brain has found something else it wants to think about.  Maybe you should let it and see what happens.

The brain naturally gravitates toward thoughts it most needs to process.  That's why our dreams are so often out of our own control.  The brain is processing information and showing you the results as dreams.  That your brain focuses on those "irrelevant stuff," that means it wants to.

We are more than what we appear to be as human.  That much is certain.  There's no way we'd have such fantastic imaginations, only to be imprisoned in such a horrid routine of life.  Your brain is drawing you away from daily meticulation in the direction of what you were meant to be: whatever your imagination tells you that is.  You're turning into it, slowly but surely, and your waning concentration abilities are proof of it.  Your dreams are telling you the same thing, in a reverse-polarity, paradoxical sort of way.

  2. You probably consider learning a strictly mental exercise, yes?

Try learning Tai Chi and then practice it daily.

  3. If you cannot focus for any length of time on a particular subject then that subject is not worth your time being spent on it. To really concentrate fully on any one thing needs the passion to want to get to grips with it. If I were you I would streamline the topics you have taken on board to just those that fill you with passion. This way learning will be easy and unforced. Best wishes. UK

  4. Perhaps you need to make greater input and develop patience while learning new things. Ask questions, research these things further. You could replace the irrelevant stuff with thoughts of the good, healthy, educational things you've learned. Develop sound friendships with those who enjoy them so you can grow.

Another option to consider: This is NOT religion, but since God made you and everything else for Himself, you could ask Him to help you to think better. It takes a little faith. Start a relationship with Him, and He will give the wisdom, understanding, and knowledge you need.
