I am very good at volleyball and I am a libero as well as an outside hitter. I am working on becoming a middle because it is the position I truly really really want! I have been doing many strength and cardio exercizes but how can I improve my coordination for hitting. What about the other necessary skills for being a middle. Please Help!

  1. bend your knees and swing your arms back to get the full strength!

  2. i used to be an outside hitter as well before my coach destined me to middle. i just had to learn the transitions better and i did alot of work on my form for spiking. watch volleyball games and look at the way they aproach the ball. that's what i did. i just copied. i would videotape them and watch them at home over and over. ask your coach to help you. practice grace...lol. you don't really need great coordination to be a middle hitter. you just need skill and practice. good luck!

  3. help for coordination u could try and jungle

  4. Make sure that you are taking your approach correctly. My coach told us to turn toward zone 7 (where the setter usually is) on the last 2 steps of our approach. This is so that we can turn our whole body while we hit to get more momentum. I don't know if your coach has already told you to do this, but listen to them because i don't want to upset your coach. It works for me, but different coaches have different opinions. Remember to bend your knees on the last 2 steps so that you have a platform to push off of when you actually hit. Also remember all of the regular hitting details that you know from being an outside hitter. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things to become a middle hitter. One main thing that you must keep in mind is that your approach must be faster than it was when you were an outside because you are closer to the setter and you will probably always block so make sure that you know the step to move and block(it is the same step as pulling off of the net, only you are going to the side). You might also want to ask your coach about being a middle hitter they might have suggestions that will help you. There are also camps that focus specifically on middle hitters that you could attend. Good luck and have fun hitting!!

  5. get with a friend and have her hit some short balls to you. Practice digging them up.

Go against the side of ur house or a brick wall and pass to certain spots on the wall.

    *good luck!!
