  1. Concetrate on stretching your legs and splits first, since a grande jete is a split in the air and you can do that if you cant do one on the floor first : ]

Also, you need more that flexibility, you need strength to get your legs up in the air.  Practicing your extenstions to the back and front with each leg will help increase the neccessary strength.  If you do this then make sure you hold your legs in the air for as long as you can, this will give you a better result.

Ab Strength helps too! Do crunches or an other ab exercise every day, it will help many aspects of dance including your grade jete, I promise : ] Ab strength helped me a lot after I started doing crunches daily.

And finally, practice does make perfect! Practice your grand jetes a lot, they will defenitly improve.

    good luck.

  2. i also find its the pre jete that makes it, if you do two soft runs, then push your feet into the ground...that should give you the spring. also try tensing your stomach (core) which helps you jump high and long =] keep practicing x x

  3. i am no expert ,

but if you go into a deep plie before bouncing up and bing able to do splits helps, if you can alreagy do splits try wall splits and over splits  pointe you foot an try and kick you front leg out kind of unfolding it that somtimes helps like an extention

good luck and try doing more than one so leap then step then leap again its good for pratice ,and do somthing with you arms lol dont forget about them !!!:)

  4. you need to have exercises that will make your legs strong so that, the stronger the legs, the higher the jumps.one more thing is that there is one simple exercise to make your grand jete better..it's to split and stay there for a couple of minutes and really feel the stretch do it on both sides and you can do it even when you're just at home watching tv and stuff which isn't much of a hassle :)

    hope it could help :D
