How can I improve my mile run time??

In our gym 18 laps equals one mile. Normally I run a mile in 6:15 but I want to get it down to around 5:45 if I can. I am a 13 yr old girl, 5'4'', 105 pounds, am in physical shape to go faster just not sure how. How can I improve my time, and how long would each lap need to be to get a much faster time??

  1. ok u wanna do like four 800 meter runs really fast, and after each lap walk one lap. Then the next day do like a 5-7 mile run for endurance and stuff. always do ur one mile warm up and high knees and stuff. And if u want do like crunches and push ups just for the h**l of it.


  2. Your time isn't really accurate for a real mile time unless it's on a track.  You should train there if you can.

  3. 18? woo in mine its 4. idk cause your mile is 30 seconds faster then mine. but i run like 5 miles every week
