How can I improve my reverse hook kick height/flexibility in Eui Am?

For those of you in Taekwondo, I'm learning the form called Eui Am. However, the height of my hook kick is low in this form----and in general, actually. All other kicks I do are at head-level.

How can I improve the height of this kick? I can already do a front split and a side stradle split, but have always had trouble with this techinique. The Eui Am form makes this weakness VERY obvious.

For those of you who need a refresher, he's one You Tube video of a guy doing the form:

  1. What organization are you with?  Eui Am in the ITF style of patterns employs two middle reverse turning kicks and two high reverse turning kick.  No hook kicks.  If you position your kick and legs correctly you don't need the side splits.  Just stretch the hamstrings and google Eui Am.  You will see how the kicks should be performed. Good luck.

  2. how long can you hold your splits? 1 min 2? try practicing splits for 5 minutes plus.

what i do is strap ankle weight and try a kick 50 times then try it without it its much easier for me that way.

maybe get a friend to video you doing EUI AM and see if your doing something wrong the guy in the video doesn't lean back enough.

oh and when you do the hook kick hold it and try and strech it when your at your maximum hold as long as you can till it hurts a bit then relax . do it again
