  1. I could give you a million little techniques but that wont help unless you know exactly what im talking about so im just going to say this...Practice, Practice, Practice.  the more you actually do serve recieve the better you will be no technique can replace hardwork and repetition.  one tip i will give you is to beat the ball, which means to get to the spot the ball is going to land before it gets there.  sounds like a no brainer but the earlier you get there the easier it will be to make adjustments to the ball if you have to.  well good luck and keep practicing!

  2. make sure that you are doing a proper technique. Since coaches usually have different ways of doing things ask someone how to pass properly and then just remember to stagger your feet and be low to the ground. Try not to swing your arms at all and if you have three in the backrow, remember that if the ball is to your right it is yours. Push with your legs and just practice constantly. If you don't have a volleyball at home, try using a soccer ball, or going out and buying one. The soccer ball will hurt a little but will strengthen your arms.

the best way to get better is to practice!

  3. Make sure you move quickly to where you need to be.  Get stopped before you play the ball.  Once you are playing the ball, move toward the target.

Get your arms out straight early.  (Too many bad passers get their arms straight just before the ball gets there.)

    Call the ball LOUDLY.

Try to move your arms as little as possible.  You do not need much armswing to get the ball to the target.  You are moving your entire body toward the target slightly.  (I am not talking about running or even walking.  It is more like you are straightening your knees.)

Pass 100 balls.  Take a quick water break.  Pass another 100.  Start easy.  Tosses that are directly to you and are close.  Have your tosser move back.  Then have them toss the ball to make you move.

  4. practice

  5. get under the ball and get low... returning someones balls as they do serve drills always helps technique

  6. 1. down low

    2. shoulders over knees

    3. arms out (separated of course)

    4. on balls of feet, foward, so if you were nudged you would fall foward

    5. when your arms are out your palms should face each other so you can easily position hands and arms to pass the ball

    6. eyes on the ball at all times

    7. your body should always be in front of the ball and shoulders square unless you are in a last resort dive

  7. be aggressive, get low, and have fun!!!!!

  8. You can practice, and make shore you blend your knees and get right under the ball and take your time to hit the ball.

  9. Practice, just by bumping to yourself or to a wall and then you can have someone hit it down to you. Just make sure you are in reasy postion and are reasy for whatever is coming over that net. Watch yourself hit the ball and if need be hit the floor. Dont, let any ball drop Without going for it.

  10. By practice. I used to be really bad at it and eventually you learn what you're doing wrong. If you're scared to get the ball because of someone next to you, call the ball and don't stop, even if you run into each other it's your ball because you called it off. If you're scared to get it because you keep missing them, take a breath after the last mess-up, let it go because volleyball is a present time thing, can't change that last point, and be ready to get low and under the next ball and pop it up if you cant get it to the setter. Make sure your arms are even too. Don't swing your arms either when receiving, that's a big mistake. Use your legs and just sort of lift everything up including the ball. Volleyball has a lot of waiting when it comes to serve and you get psyched out. Before the serve just take some breaths and think about what you'll do if it comes to you. There ARE some days where nothing you do can fix your passing and you just have to deal with an off day. You should pepper with a friend to get better at passing and then get someone to throw a ball kind of hard from a long distance like a serve so you can receive it. If you are at a practice, suggest you go over that more and practice it more with your team and talk to your coach or anyone that is good at receiving to show you how. It really will just click one day. A lot of girls get too excited and "jump" the ball like run forward trying to get it and then shank it off or hit themselves so don't jump forward, be on your ties, literally, and ready to move. You probably won't need to move forward much but side to side. Drop your shoulder when its a little to the side. The most common thing I see is getting psyched out and lunging toward the ball so if you can control that then you'll probably be ok. Also, when you're passing, keep your arms locked. Like I said, don't swing and almost freeze after you bump the ball so you can feel how you lock your arms straight out.
