How can I improve my volleyball skills?

All my friends are awesome at Volleyball! So when we all spend the night at soemone's house, volleyball is involved. Problem is...I suck! And I'm not kidding. The other day we were playing, and I sucked so bad, the other team kept hitting the ball to me for a point. Because I missed everytime. So my question is,what exersices can I do at home, to get better?

And is Wilson Soft Play Volleyball a good one?

I have to buy a pretty cheap one, so any reccomendations?

  1. When you dig the ball, make sure your arms are parallel , knees slightly bent and always get right behind the ball; don't reach to the sides. If its over your head, don't touch it.   Practice, PRactice.


  2. yea get a net and a coach try to get better at it and instaed for them throwing the ball to u to get points when u get it give it to someone good unless u are practicing just try hard u go girl!! good luck!!

  5. Firstly, stick to a leather (or synthetic leather) Molten or Mikasa ball if you're getting a proper volleyball- theyrange from $30 to $80

    You don't really state your problems apart from missing everytime. Does that mean you don't even make contact with the ball or does it mean that you contact the ball, but it doesn't go where you want it to go?

  6. well ask  one of your friends to help you. Maybe you guys just hit it back and forth with eachother. The key is to focus on the ball and where it's going. Try not to focus to hard or you'll lose your cool (lol)

  7. ive found the golden secret is to lean forward when digging and move your FEET not your arms

I sucked when I first started too..don't worry about it first of all..but you can get better by building up leg muscles by doing some wall jumps, wall sits, or just jumping some rope works too..work on your hits also like to some sets and stuff off of a wall because it will strengthen the muscles in your arm..um you could also ask one of your friends to help you by just hitting the ball back and forth, this will really help you improve..remember to have fun that's what it's all about..Hope I helped..need anything else just E-mail me =D..oh and I guess that's a good ball...I haven't really paid attention to the qualities of the brands..but I have a Spalding which cost about $13.00 I think

  11. go to a wall, bump the ball to the wall again and again, then do the same thing with sets and hits

  12. practice, practice, practice! For bumping, go to a wall and bump it on the wall back and forth. For setting, you can go to a preferably tall wall and set it against the wall back and forth like the bumping technique but with sets. For spiking practice your left right left approach aim and hit. The main thing is that you will get better with practice as time goes on. =]
