Question:

How can I improve on this mile time/?

I ran the mile today, and was totally unprepared, because a gym teacher told me we were running on THURSDAY. Anyway, I got a 6:39. Here are my lap times:

1:30

3:15

4:55

6:39

Is this a good time for a 13-year-old girl? Also, what can I do to improve, and how fast should I go on each lap to get 6:20? Should 6:20 be my target time, or should I go faster, since I wasn't really tired by the end of this?

  1. i say since you got a 1:30 try to keep the 1:30 by working on ur stamina. and Good Luck :D


  2. wow, im 15, a guy, and do a 6:40. YOu proboly are in the top 100% tile for your age. THat is good. If you run track, then you should work with your coach, learning how to pace yourself is the key. Sprinting the first bit can have you loose some time in the end. I dont do track, but i swim distance, and i dropped a lot of time, about 15 seconds, just learning how to pace myself, in just three weeks, so i imagine you can do the same.

    just wondering.. do you live in NY state cause i gota run the mile tomorrow in gym because its a "state requirement"
