Question:

How can I incorporate a lantern into a room?

I think this lantern is really cute, but how could I display it in my room? It would look awkward if it were just sitting there on a table, so what other accessories should I use? And how should I place them, to make it less weird? Also are there any websites that just show pictures of decorated rooms? Thanks in advance!

Oh yeah, here's the lantern:

  1. There are a couple of ways to enhance your room with a lantern like that.

I have a lantern very similar in shape and size to the one that you like, and I have it on a bookshelf.  Yes, it's just sitting there ... but it's on top of some stacked books, so it fits right in and doesn't look misplaced.

I also have a similar one in another room of my house ... I hung it from a plant hook (the kind that sticks out from the wall).  http://www.rejuvenation.com/graphics/pro...

Just look at your space and determine where you would normally want/need to install a light source (like a sconce); that would be a great place to hang your lantern!

One more way: hang it from a chandelier-type of chain.  You can use a cup hook in the ceiling and adjust the chain to whatever length you want!  Consider buying 2 or 3 lanterns and hanging them at various levels in a corner.

  2. Hang it from your ceiling in a corner.  buy several and hang them in a row from the ceiling.  I have one in my bay window.
