How can I increase flexibility?

I'm not naturally flexible at all and I'd like to be able to do the splits and increase flexibility in my back (I have slight spine curvature). What stretches should I do and how often?

  1. everyday take about 10-15 minutes to stretch

first start by touching your toes when standing and when sitting this improves flexibility a lot. Then do some flexes and points with you feet. You can also do crunches it may not seem that it would help but it does. Then try to go for a split. Don't go for full split the first time you try. If it hurts a lot ease up a bit. You do not want to hurt yourself. Hold your split for about 25 seconds. Then switch legs to do the opposite side. After about 2 weeks of doing this increase about 5 more seconds.

When doing splits make sure your feet are turned out!!

You can also ask a friend who may dance ballet or jazz.

    I hope this helped!!

  2. first, you need to warm your muscles up. some people I know have a hot bath or something like that. this really doesn't work. go for a 5 min run or ride a bike for 10 min. something to work you legs continuously. running is better because it works your stomach muscle more.

the moment you finish your run/ride, start a stretching routine or just the stretches you want to get better at.

remember, don't just try to get down into the splits. stretch the muscles independently. this means, make your hamstrings flexible, hipflexsors, quadracepts, abductors, glueals. everything.

also, try turning your legs out in different ways when you strech, stretch different angles because you need to lengthen all the muscles in your legs.

for some really good streches, look at juji at http://www.trickstutorials.com/index.php...

read through his stuff. he's a pro!

good luck and try to stretch on a regular basis.

  3. Yogo would be the best thing
