I have a baby that is still in the NICU. She is fine though. But I'm not producing enough milk anymore. I feel like I've tried everything. Help!

  1. Sounds like stress is taking its toll on you.  Have you tried drinking a beer?  It will help to relax you and the protein in it will help make more milk.  You need to eat plenty of protein. We had a dog that was almost totally dry and we fed her chicken and eggs and plenty of liquids and she filled right up. Positive affirmations work also. I feel plenty of milk.... I will have plenty of milk.  Of course you have to know that this works and it does.

  2. Pump, pump and pump some more...

  3. had the same problem, my son was a premie so i pumped. then i started gettin lazy and my milk was decreasinG! try DRINKING and eating LOTS and FENU greek as well blessed Thistle(taken togethr) can help increase milk supply! u can get them @ any health store!

  4. Here are the rules of pumping: The more empty your b*****s are after pumping, the more milk you will produce. And, the more often you stimulate your b*****s by pumping, the more milk you will produce. So, pump often (at least every three hours) and massage your b*****s as you pump to get as much milk out as you can.

When you have a low supply and are trying to increase it, you can even pump every one or two hours (as someone else mentioned) for a few days until your supply goes back up.

I should mention, I really hope you are pumping with a double-sided, electric pump, since it's by far the most effective at getting more milk out. If not, there's the problem.

    Now this also really works...

To help increase your supply, go to a health food store and ask for:

    - Fenugreek capsules. Buy the more expensive, not the cheaper kind - it's a difference of a few dollars but they work better. These are excellent!

    - Blessed Thistle capsules - Take along with Fenugreek

    - Mother's Milk Tea - I didn't try this but some people take it

Good luck! I hope you try these things and they help you!

Edit * And I forgot to mention also drinking lots of fluids. Water increases the quantity but not the quality of your milk. Soups are great. Juice is also good. Eat healthy and don't drink alcohol... you know, common sense. GL again.

  5. Try not to be stressed out about it. Drink more fluids. Pump like crazy. And there are many supplements that are designed to help this.

  6. you have to pump every hour.

If pumping is not working, feed your husband

    once an hour.

  7. I used a mother's milk herb tea ( I think the site was bulkherb.com) with my 3rd baby and had tons more milk and felt really good.  It had fennel and red raspberry leaf and all kinds of other stuff.
