I fish on the Arkansa in Pueblo,CO.During spring and early summer I have caught a lot and now there is nothing. I have tried lures, salmon eggs, powerbait, flyfishing, grasshoppers, and worms. Any suggestions will help.

  1. I'm with Silentgansta - you need to be very quiet and don't wear bright clothes as they spook easily... I normally float a night crawler with a small split shot sinker letting it float with the current - if you don't get any hits try going to a bigger sinker to get it down where it needs to go.

A Mepps Black Fury size 2 try the one with yellow dots on the blade if it doesn't work try the orange dots...I also like Kastmaster lures too.

Try lighter line?  How heavy is your line - that can matter too.

  2. my friend catches most of his at the store

  3. Most likely you are a headwater fisherman(where the water starts in pools). During spring and early summer the trout are hungry and bold with higher water. As the water lowers and trout are not as hungry they head into the backwater(the shallower water at the end of a pool), due to slower currents and greater visibility. Not only will you have to fish the backwater, but you will need to walk softly to the pool and keep your shadow off the water. I actually crawl to the water and slowly peek up at the water to find a casting spot, lower down and cast blindly. Try this and you will catch trout.
