  1. well first try being right on the edge and be least sloppy as possible and then improve on the sloppiness if any exists while still being on the edge once there is no sloppiness there will be sheer exactness.

  2. Education is the best way. But don't limit yourself to certain subjects.

  3. Be intentional...

Focus your attention on each breath you take...

    Synchronize your movements with consciousness...

    Always think, be present now!

  4. There are some good suggestions in previous answers and some I didn't understand.

One suggestion I can offer, where language is concerned, is to become aware of differences in levels of specificity  between related words and synonyms.  For instance the words automobile, coupe, car,  sedan, Ford and Mustang all generally refer to the same thing, but they do so on varying levels of specificity. The most general terms-- automobile and car are synonyms on the same level of specificity.  Coupe and sedan, though they are different are still at the same level.  Ford is a bit more specific, and Mustang is most specific.  A series of questions can lead to more specific or exact usage.  What kind of car?  What kind of coupe?  What kind of Ford coupe?  All logical questions, but how do you get more specific than Mustang?  Which Mustang?  What color?

Hope that helps.  It's easiest to recognize differences in specificity with nouns.  As time passes, you'll recognize similar differences in verbs, adjectives etc.  As your awareness of the different levels of specificity grows, your usage will naturally become more precise.

If your reference to exactness related to other fields, ask an engineer, carpenter, or architect.

  5. Learn and use a larger vocabulary, and continue to increase your handy list of useful words.

You do this by reading quality literature and non-fiction in fields of your interest, and actively seeking out new words.
