you can buy range extender, or another access point to increase /boost your signal strength.

it depends on which wireless router you are using..

DLink, linksys wireless range extenders are easy to setup and cheap..

if you want to extend your singnal strength to another building or other room which is not near the wireless/ to upstarirs,

I would suggest. lay a network cable from this current router to new , then keep a wiresless access point there

It depends if you are talking about your internet wireless router or your wireless card in your computer/laptop. If its the router, you can buy better antennas of ebay and ones with longer cords. If it is your computer card then it depends what model. The signal strength can also be slowed down by walls and large obsticals. Put your router up somewhere high.
