How can I increase my vertical when I hit?

I'm 13 years old and I'm 5'8'' and am extremely powerful. But I don't know how to increase my vertical. I'm left handed so I'm a hitter but I can't even jump that high!! Also, during warm-ups my approach is perfect but when we practice I like just run and hit the ball with no approach. Any help?

  1. i would say practice your approach and make sure to swing your arms back..

and i know this may sound really weird, but my mom told me that when she was in volleyball that they measured how high they could jump, no approach or anything.

then they would take a couple bleachers out and go to the top and just hop down one by one..

and at the end of the season they remeasure and she had improved a lot.

  2. practice jumping, and every time, jump as high as you can.  Every time!!!

  3. well first of all it depends on how high or low that ball is tossed. I myself am a volleyball player, i am 6 foot, no joke i promise. well anyways if the ball is tossed low than when the ball goes up do your approach. if it is tossed up high than when it reaches the poit where it will not go any higher than do your approach and always get right on top of the ball!! hope i can help!! :)

  4. you should try to swing down both of your arms, it should give you more power and lift you up higher off of the floor, you could also work out your shins, that's always good for jumping : ) , you also sound like you're pretty tall anyway, you might not have to jump that high to get up and hit the ball, just follow your instinct on when to approach : )

  5. first do workouts that strenghten  your thighs.

    that really helps.

then when you jump, swing your arms all the way back.

and then keep practicing jumping anywhere and everywhere.

    practice makes perfect.

right now i can touch 9 ft on the wall and i'm only 5'6''!!!

so keep practicing and you'll get it.

  6. you might be starting ur approach from too far back, especially if you're finding that you don't have time to get two feet under the ball, bend your knees, jump, THEN hit.  you could try moving up so that there's less distance to cover or starting ur approach earlier (possibly taking one step in general direction mite help to put ur body in motion), watch the setter for the ball direction though before you start the approach.

  7. umm,

    welllll

    practice practice practice..

and try getting weight thingys for your ankles.

and do leg weights when you work out.

    and jump a lot.

  8. make sure you swing your arms all the way back when you jump

also concentrate on your approach don't care where the ball goes just do your approach

  9. Take every drills seriously. They might not look verry helpful for you but truth is, they are. You should also try to jog during your free time cause it makes your body lighter. Try to exercise more. Then you'll see the difference.
