How can I increase the hp of a Bayliner 19' Capri equipped with a 4.3?

1992 Capri 19' 4.3.... powerless at 5000' elevation. Do any bigger engines bolt up> different jets? More cam?

  1. trade it!! your boat is almost 16 years old and so i would not mess with it much... if you put to much stress on the engine you may create a bigger problem than you have now...


  2. Altitude is the problem here....specifically density altitude.

    One way to compensate is to install an aftermarket turbo-charger or super charger....

    I suspect in a marine application...the supercharger might be easier to install...(no rework of exhaust routing)

  3. if it's got a 2 bbl. carb. there is a 4 bbl. and manifold available,be sure to use marine manifold and carb.

  6. look at replacing the intake manifold edelbrock  I think has a bolt on
