How can I install sound on my computer without using a CD?

when I rebooted my computer there was no sound and when I used the cd the computer said that I do not have the device installed and I remember my bro installing sound in my cuzins computer without using a cd so can sumbody tell mi...I would ask him but he said I'm stupid and dun noe wat I'm doing and hes not doing anything to help mi out

oh and the problem is not the speakers

1) Make sure the device is inserted in the PC.

2) Download and install the drivers from the hardware manufacturers website, if required (which is unlikely).
