I have groundhogs that come to my yard. I live in a townhouse and my neighbor does not take care of his property. There is a huge hole under his cement patio that I can see from my yard. The groundhogs live there. I think its more than one. They come to my yard and eat the grass and my plants. I have a six foot fence and placed wood about one foot along the bottom of the entire fence and they still dig holes and go under to my side. I tried spray from the store that was supposed to keep them away but they still come. They are also not afraid of anything. Mydog almost got into a fight with one of them! and he is constantly barking when he sees them and I can't let him out because they'll hurt him (He's a 12 lb. yorkie) about the same size as the groundhog. WHat can I do to keep them away besides shooting them. I do not want to kill them I just want them to GO AWAY!I cannot cage them and let them loose somewehre else. I live in a plac ewhere they are VERY prominent. They are EVERYWHERE!

  1. mothballs

  2. I use a HavaHeart trap.  Use no bait, just set it where they come into your yard and they'll walk right in.  Then you have to get rid of them . . .

  3. landmines!

no, just kidding. There are special plants whose roots are irritants for gophers, check at local nurseries. In ground traps are the most effective as you can NOT use bait-it is poisonous to dogs. For protection of specific plants, you can plant the in bowl shaped pieces of chicken wire.

  4. put your dogs p**p in their path and his hair in their tunnels and also don't worry about them hurting him , he will frighten them and they will go somewhere else to eat and play
