How can I keep my computer on to download the antivirus programs?

My computer is shutting itself down automatically doesn't give me enough time to download or look at anything. How do I keep it open for awhile to download some antivirus programs?

Run the computer in safe mode

Press F8 when booting of computer starts to select the option

Ok lets see the cause of shutting down

Press control + alt + del to open task manager to kill any unknown process that may be the cause

Go to a friend's computer (or even the library) and download the antivirus and/or antispyware program to a CD and get it on your computer that way; you will have to update it when you install it to your computer, but you may have better luck that way since you will be dealing directly with the antivirus/antispyware server and not opening a browser - the virus or malware program can prevent you from downloading any antivirus programs from a web site once you are online - updating an antivirus program once installed is a different story.
