  1. airconditioner?

  2. Ice Ice baby!

  3. dampen your sleeves with cold water. really works.

  4. i use solar convection for 100% of my homes heating/cooling. basically think of a big green house on the south side of your home with black walls and black floor. there are vents on the top and bottum of the inside wall going into my house. when the air in the room heats up the hot air rises up threw the vents in the house, pullling in cooler air from my house. then at night i simply close the vents.

i also use solar aic conditioning in the house. i have a big black metal box on the top of my home that heats up supper hot in the summer time. as hot air rises it sucks the warm  air that's collecting in my cieling, which creates a suction inside the house. i have vents on the floor that are pipes threw the dirt in the front yard which draw in the cool thermal air into the house.

    Stop Global Warming,

  5. I'm assuming you don't want to turn on your AC. Could you go for a swim? I try to use my AC as little as possible, so I know how you feel. The best I can say is just deal with it.

How do you think people lived before air conditioning? At the rate we're consuming energy now, we'll all be back in that same place someday if we don't do something sooner rather than later, and maybe worse because of climate change.

  6. Maybe going to a pool, being in the bath tub with cold water lol!, umm try being close to a fan or wear fresh clothes, clothes that makes you feel fresh

  7. Just how ridiculous is it?

You might like a mountain vacation.. changing the latitude by changing the  altitude. Or take a trip to Yellowknife? There are lots of cool places left on earth. Even going into a deep cave in most parts of the world can get us cool.

We need some constraints to make the question meaningful.

  8. If you can install an overhead fan, do so.  If not, at very least get a fan you can direct toward where you need to be to keep the air moving.

Close windows and drapes when the air outside is hotter than the air inside.  In the evening, when the sun goes down, open the windows and drapes, and put the fan in the window to pull air in from outside.

If you have a bandanna or neck scarf, wet it and tie it loosely around your neck if you have to work outside.  Wear a hat and long white sleeves to shade yourself and reflect some of the heat.

Light clothing, loose cut is cooler than more form-fitting clothing.

Spend time at the library.  They'll pay for the air conditioning there whether you are there or not, and you can turn the AC at your own place to a higher temperature at least while you are out.

Don't blow your hair dry after a shower, but let it be your natural evaporative cooler.

Turn off lights, especially incandescent lights, that are not in use.  They add to the heat in the house.  Make sure your air coils on the refrigerator are clean and that air circulates easily.  The frig dumps a lot of heat into the house, so making it cool more effectively means it will be  running less.

If you can do so, use a crock pot  or electric skillet outside on the patio to cook meals.  Even a "George Foreman" type grill can work outside, I suspect, though I have never actually used one.  The heat will stay outside rather than have to be cooled inside.  A charcoal grill serves a similar purpose, but I don't buy charcoal.  If I am going to cook something outside, I use downed limbs from my own trees to build a wood fire.

Also, cooking overnight for the following day avoids dumping cooking heat into the house at the time when the afternoon heat is at its most intense.  Eating raw veggies and fruit requires little additional heat in the house, and is actually good for you, too.

If your climate is dry as well as hot, you can use a simple spray bottle with water in it as an instant evaporative cooler.  A light sprits on the top sheet before I set the fan on it will cool me enough that I can settle down to sleep.  This isn't functional if you live in a humid climate.

There are other hints, but the answer is getting pretty long as it is.  Good luck and keep your cool.
