Question:

How can I keep my foot from pulling up inside my snowboard boot?

My boots are the right size length-wise but whenever I board my heel comes up from the bottom of the boot about 2 inches or so. The boot stays flat on the board, its just my foot that moves! This stance makes my calves burn to the point where I can't board for very long. I've tried smaller sized boots but they still seem too big in that ankle area (and crunch toes). WHAT CAN I DO???? I tie them as tight as possible and I strap my bindings as tight as possible as well. ANY HELP??

    or wear bigger socks.

  3. As a skier, we use a footbed, custom fit for our foot. It will support the foot and take up much of the volume in your boot. You may also need a heel lift. You say 2 inches of lift, but I doubt it's that much, just feels like it.  The extra socks are a poor solution to the problem. Some wet suit foam about 1/4" thick might be placed between your foot and the tongue of the boot to take up some space.  Try the footbeds first and consult a good boot fitter.

  4. the dc graphix and many other boots have this. it is an inflatable air bladder that makes the ankle area tighter but you control how tight it goes. Added bonus- the graphix are boa system my favorite! u just turn a k**b and no tying laces!

  5. I have this same problem, I'll tie my boots so tight that my feet hurt but my heel still lifts up. I just wear like 3 pairs of socks and it helps alot, doesn't keep it from lifting completley.

  6. ahhh...wonderful heal lift...

    well, the best thing you can do to remedy your situation of the evil heal lift is to go to a hobby store or fabric store and pick up some velcro, make a strap to put in your liner and strap it around your ankle above your bone.  also you can get some rubber and put it in the heel cup of your boot to help keep your heel down.  Also, try adjusting the cant on the back of your highback on your binding to make your highback come more forward, that way you wont have to make your bindings so tight and it naturally holds your heal down.  Burton makes heel cups that fit in to your liner to keep your heel down but I am not one hundred percent they sell them separately.  I think that you would be surprised with the velcro band around your ankle though...i have done it before and it worked pretty well, try the rubber cement in the heelcup too, and a thicker sock :)  hope this helps!!!  oh and if you do get new boots anytime soon, check out the boa system with DC boots, they have such a wonderful precision fit every time without laces and I have no heel lift...ever. :)

  7. Your current boots although they may be the right length for you arnt the right width or the right shape for your foot. It wont make much difference how tight you do your boots or bindings to be honest if your boots are wrong for your feet. Different brands make different shape and width boots, brands like 32 and Vans suit people with wide feet, while brands like Northwave and Salomon suit people with narrower feet and thinner ankles. You need to go to a snowboard shop that sells a large range of boots and try on a large range made by various brands and go with the ones that fit your feet the best. Your boots should be tight but still comfee, your toes should brush against the front of your boot and when you lift your heel off the ground the base of the boot should follow rather than your heel pulling through. Im not surprised your calfs are burning you need to get new boots unfortunately, try on a large range of boots but i think Northwaves or Salomon will be a good boot for you, maybe Rome as well as their boots tend to be quite narrow round the heel.
