Question:

How can I keep my labret stud from being pulled into my lip?

I have a 14g 5/16" titanium labret stud with a pop in bioplast/gemstone ball. I like to wear it since it is inconspicuous enough for work and I don't like having to switch jewelry all the time (like from a retainer to normal jewelry for one day I'm not working). The bioplast piece is only slightly larger than the 14g post, so it gets dragged through once in a while. I managed to survive eating a huge jimmy john's sub and drinking with it in last night, only to wake up in the middle of the night with it half way through my piercing.

Would a longer barbell or different gauge help? If it matters, my piercing is 2 months old.

  1. You could try a longer post, but that might make it more obvious, and since you're trying to hide it for work, that's a problem.

You could try getting a small o-ring for the end of the post. That should hold it in place better than the bioplast bead.

Your piercing is certainly too new to be switching jewelry all the time, it's not good even for healed piercings.

You may have to get a good quality retainer and just live with it for a while (leave it in). If you go this route, make sure you get glass or quartz, anything else is no good for fresh piercings.

Wish I could be of more help
