Question:

How can I keep my water from my refrigerator from tasting so bad?

I just rented a new place, and the tap water itself tastes fine. The ice from the fridge tastes great, and water from the melted ice tastes fine. The water from the fridge, however, tastes awful. It tastes sort of like how metal polish smells.

The fridge is a whirlpool stainless side by side. It says it has the UltraEase II filter system. I think the maintenance guy put a new filter in before I moved in, and the filter indicator says its fine.

Any help would be great.

  1. Your lines may need to be flushed.  Run 2-3 gallons of water out of the dispenser, and then try the water.  If it's still bad, change the filter again.  If that doesn't work, go with a Brita Pitcher.  Good luck.

  2. You are probably picking up odors from the fridge, Try the old baking soda box in the fridge.
