I have a DSL modem connected to a Netgear wireless router with WEP security. I just want to be able to stop my bro from connecting with his lap top during certain times in the day

  1. well perma disconnect of his laptop would be by using mac filtering on the routor so only your laptop may connect. disable the filter when he is allowed on.

  2. Almost all routers have the ability to block access through MAC filtering for certain hours.  Look at the makers web site and in the support section should be a FAQ section that will give instructions.

  3. Go to your wireless router's config page. For example, mine is 192.168.1.1. Yours should be something like that. Usually it's the same as your own IP except the last digit is one.

To get ur IP, go to command prompt and type in "ipconfig". Type in your IP in the address bar in IE or firefox or whatever you use, but change the last digit to a 1. This should bring up a page to change options about the router. There should be something about access restrictions. There you can allow or disallow certain IP address internet during certain times of the day.

  4. If you log in to the router, using the IP address (I would assume based on your description, by typing 192.168.1.1, or if you have another address, already set up), type that into Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, the default username and password is admin, password, respectively. On the left hand side of the screen, click on the link that says "Block Services", here you can choose the IP address for the computer that your brother is using for his laptop, and choose to block it on a schedule, or you can log in as needed and just shut down access to the router also! Hope this helps!

  5. I got a free laptop from this site, I highly recommend it!
