How can I know if I'm reaching the monthly internet usage limit set by my ISP?

Like, is there anyway to tell? Is there something on my computer I can look at or a program I can download? I have Comcast, and since they're going to be limiting everyone's internet soon, I would really like to have some kind of idea about how much of the internet my household is using up currently.

  1. As far as I know there is no limit. We have several computers all on one network and we don;t have a limit.

  2. whaaaaat? limited net usage? i think you're misunderstanding.  your package will only let you browse at a set speed, it shouldnt limit your browsing based on kb bandwidth ul'd and dl'd. and if this is true...it's time for you to move on. there are better options available.

    EDIT

you're absolutely right...250 gig monthly limit..which probobly isn't a huge deal now...unless your torrent (which i do) but still...i download tons of movies every movies every month and i dont come anywhere near that.  the only way you'd hit this is with multiple people torrent-ing hd video.

they're doing this in preparation for the future...what other business is comcast in? cable tv! bingo.  they realize that more and more people are going to be watching tv via the net than will be subscribing to their cheesy plans.  so eventually im sure they'll be offering a tiered system for bandwidth.   and btw, i hear the punishment for going over the 250 gigs isn't an overage charge, but a termination of your services for a year. read your paperwork.

  3. If they are going to start this business! then switch to Qwest! Comcast is going to be loosing customers very quick!
