How can I know the location of the person im chatting with online ? throught email or IP address ?

3 ways I know of:

1. If you can grab the IP address off a network packet that he sends you.  (I heard the IP address is attached to it).  And with that information, you can figure out what region it probably came from.  

2. Get the person's email address and do a reverse DNS lookup to get his IP# IPv4.  

3. Or simply ask this person to tell you his IP #.  But this question would make most people at least a bit suspicious of the asker.
