...as I really take it to heart...

When I talk to a lot of my friends, they seem to allow it to roll off their backs...

...me? I think about it relentlessly...

So what is different about me and how can I not take it to heart?

  1. Jeez, just be a man about it.

  2. Why would you?  I can understand taking sexist jokes with a grain of salt...nearly all jokes will offend someone...but actual sexism.  That is something that should not be ignored.

  3. I agree with you

    BUT

if it bothers you that much, as in "I think about it relentlessly..." it sound like you may be ruminating -  which is a symptom of major depressive disorder.  See you doctor about antidepressant medication.

  4. You might be a highly sensitive person (known as HSP, sensitive, or hypersenstive.)  You can google those words and/or check out Yahoo Groups for further info.  I understand because I am an hsp too!  A lot of my friends quickly get over things and tell me the same thing.

But I can't...I keep thinking about things.  And to make matters worse, I'm left-handed and a former artist.  I hate being sensitive!  :(  Wish I had more words of wisdom.

I used to work in an all woman office (besides me.) Uhm they can be sexist too and I was always trying to be nice.  It was really frustrating...no matter how hard or nice you are, others just view you like dirt.

    Peace.

  5. When I was being told I couldnt get a job because they wanted a woman (no it wasnt for stripper or Juliet). I looked for and got a better paying job than what I was originally looking for. Do the same.

  6. The trick is to recognize when it's happening, but not to let it get to you unless it's serious (i.e. systemic discrimination, groping, etc.).

  7. you can HA HA HA HO HO HO HEE HEE HEE

  8. Sexism, at least in the U.S, Canada and Europe, is not that big a problem, sorry if you disagree. Sexism and gender should have absolutely no bearing on your ability to make a good living and be happy. If sexism is on your mind all the time, you're probably just using it as an excuse to be unhappy Either that or using it as a way to not look at more important issues in your life..

  9. Why not join UNIFEM and simply jail any man who upsets you?

Since 2006 Indian men can be jailed for insulting their wives, partners etc. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/wo...

"(UNIFEM), in October 2007, Gujarat had appointed 25 protection officers as part of the process to implement this Act.”

In order to make sure this law is enforced: "The Lawyers Collective, one of the groups that led the campaign [to create the domestic violence laws] will now use a grant by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women to help the Indian legal system adjust the ways it handles domestic abuse cases" http://www.unifem.org/gender_issues/voic...

    Edit

Sorry if this is a bit insensitive to your feelings, but men worldwide really are getting arrested for the crime of upsetting wives or female relatives.

  10. wow thats a hard one...i just learned not to care about certain things....it takes a while....but you just have to pretend to not let it  upset you...walk away, ignore it, just find something that will get your mind off the feelings of it.

find something new thats more important to you.
