My dad is Vietnamese and i've never bothered to learn his language. I'm now officially tired of being completely lost every time I see his side of the family. I've tried to learn from him but his ways are odd and hard. is there a free website or someway I can learn some?

  1. wow, yeah i kinda have the same problem. i mean, i can understand the language but i can't really form the words. well, if you're Catholic, the Vietnamese Catholic parishes offer language courses on Sundays. I would suggest going to your local parish and seeing if you can apply for some language classes. It costs around $70 which is relatively inexpensive considering the costs of other professional institutions. If for some reason this doesnt work out, you could always hire a private tutor or seek help from language programs like rosetta stone.

  2. try rosetta stone or something like that i just heard its good but i never tried it but look up google for an english - vietnamese translator

  3. nope but try little by little , my cousins were born in US and cant speak Vietnamese either, you can send message and I will tutor you if possible .

  4. going to vietnam

  5. Contact the Vietnamese Professionals Society www.vps.org and ask about VPS abc

  6. try starting off with pimsleur vietnamese its good starting point but it doesnt explain the grammar much. look for learning ebooks online start listening to some vietnamese music, or start watchin some vietnamese shows and later on audio books. Also you can use rosetta stone vietnamese but only for the sake of learning vocab trust me rosetta stone alone will not help you one bit. you can get all these things online for free with torrents. knowing people who speak vietnamese will also help you along the way. the key to learning a new language is PERSEVERENCE just study for about an hour EVERY day. And remember to make friends with the language, have fun learning it and dont look at it as a chore. this is how i learned japanese, hope it helps. good luck
