My father past away when I was 4, and from what I heard he wasn't a very good father to me. I know some of that's not true just because a lot of family didn't like him. I have his SSN, DOB, and full name. Where can I learn more about him for free? He was also adopted... does that matter?

  1. This won't be free, but it would be worth it for you to get a copy of his birth certificate. You can purchase this through whatever county he was born in. It's much cheaper to order it directly from the county than through those "vital chek" things though so be careful.

Also see if you can acquire yearbooks from the years he was in junior high/high school (contact the school, they usually keep one from each year in their library).

  2. Try to find out who were his parents.  With his SSN, you can find out about his personal life.  Talk to your mother about him.  If you can contact her, ask her what she knows about him.
