I am totally hyper around all my friends, but (my luck!) none of my best friends are in any of my classes- not even lunch! I'm totally shy around everyone in my class, but I'm tired of being picked last for projects b/c everyone thinks of me as a bit stuck-up and wannabe for being shy and unconfident! How can I show to others that I have a life? I want to show them my outgoingness. How can I gain the confidence I lack around them?!?

As for lunch, how can I meet new kids and sit with them? I'm a sophmore and I have lunch with ALL juniors and seniors and a few cool sophmores- whom I refuse to sit with unless I want my head ripped apart- which I dont! I'm tired of eating in the loo! How can I seem cool and become friends with the upperclassmen? Please help me!!!

  1. If the folks you are sitting with are upperclassmen, ask them for advice on which classes and teachers are best for your next year's schedule.

Maybe bring some homemade treats for lunch and offer to share, to break the ice.

  2. Egh, happened to me too i just sorta make jokes when i can and try to sort of move my way into a conversation

  3. Join a club or try out for a sports team... Join the debate team, you will have a chancee to voice your views, but have to listen to others voice theirs.

  4. Just show them all your personality, imagine they're just like your best friends. Be nice and a little less quiet even if you're shy. After a while they'll stop looking at you like the new person and you'll be 'part' of them. How to be friends with the upperclassmen ? Well you can't just go straight and sit with them at their table without knowing any one of them, so may be try getting to know at least one of them that seems like a cool person while you're in class.  Why not sit with the 'cool' sophomores, by the way ? Or you could go sit next to one of the Juniors, even if you don't know them, and introduce yourself, just look to see how they are first though. Juniors were sophomores just one year before, so they may be nicer than the Seniors to you.  Just get out of your 'comfort zone' and don't be scared to speak out more. =]
