I cant help but laugh at anything.

There are times when laughing is allowed and time when its just inappropriate. It sounds awful, but my mum was telling me her friend had breast cancer and her hair was falling out and I laughed. I didnt even find it funny but I just found my smile growing and my laugh coming out.

Also when my little brother gets shouted at or I get shouted at I laugh in my parents face and it really gets me into real trouble.

HELP!

Ive tried biting my tounge, pinching myself, thinking of horibble things and I STILL laugh!!

  1. It's horrible, but try thinking about depressing things.  That's what I do, and it curbs my laughter,

  2. From what you said, it kinda sounds like you laugh as a generic response to just about anything.

I laugh at inappropriate times as well...not so often as you seem to, but in my case it seems to be when I don't know how to respond to a situation.

I was robbed at gunpoint and laughed as the gun was pointed at me. The guy looked at me like I was nuts.

The best thing I can think of to do is to remove yourself from the situation. If your brother is being yelled at, leave the room and still try to control yourself. It may seem like you're avoiding the issue, but if you leave and also try to contain yourself, eventually you'll be able to leave the room and not laugh...and then you can try staying in the room and working on not laughing.

Probably not going to be easy - takes dedication! Good luck!

  3. I have have the same problem, inappropriate laugher, and I thought I was going insane because I kept doing it.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2003, and later came to find out that a lot of MS patients have to also deal with a condition called: "Pseudobulbar palsy"

Not claiming you have this, but it's something you might want to keep in mind.

Pseudobulbar palsy is a condition that will make you spawn a different visiual emotion based react to a situation that you shouldn't be having that reaction to.  Think of it as... couple wired are getting screwed up.

My husband burned his hand making dinner in 2004, a very BAD burn and I laughed so hard, I had tears coming out of my eyes when he's standing there is extreme pain.

Might want to look up Pseudobulbar palsy and then, if it concerns you that much, discuss it with your Mom.

    Good luck

  11. Yeahh, you have to control it sometimes

i do by thinking of things that my girlfriend says about me,

    (horrible stuff)

think of something that will make you cry, it will shut down the laughter
