I have done tumbling for about 3-4 months...but didn't get much help on back handsprings. I'm 14 and we cant really afford tumbling right now. I really want to learn to do a back handspring but I know that trying it at home can lead to accidents...like breaking ones neck. I can do a really good and fast back walk-over (which I learned on my own) and the same which a forward walk-over. I can walk on my hands and get up from a bridge really easily. I was just wondering though if I can learn a BHS by just gradually jumping into a bridge? I have been doing that, but I don't want to waste my time if it wont help. It would be nice if you could help..Thanks.

  1. actually it will help...you first got to be daring and get used to the motion of flipping...and when you gradually get the hang of it, you add speed to it...for me i cant really make my stationary bhs striaght, but if i do a cartwheel first its striaght...practice makes perfect...i was able to do the bhs for about two weeks before i though about usiing the cartwheel before the bhs...and after i got the hang of that i tried it with more speed and a higher jump to the point where i could flip with out using my hands...and know im trying to add a twist to it...its a whole lot better to have people with you when you practice...they could help you out on what your lacking and also show you new things...i perfected and learned new flips and tricks when i took a capuwata class with my friends...
