How can I learn to stop under-cutting for my back-handspring?

I just learned a back-handspring but I keep under cutting. How can I learn how to stop under-cutting. (I don't take gymnastics lessons or anything so I can't ask a trainer or anything). Thx =]

  1. You need to stretch it out, for a backhand spring don't go up

    you need to go back. You go up for back tucks not back hand springs.

    One way you could practice is jumping onto your bed or something

    soft, and go back as far as you can, dont turn or anything, just practice

    going back not up. Believe me I have been there done that.

  3. You really should get into classes if you can, or at least use a trained spotter.

    Lie down with your hands over your head and have your spotter mark out tape lines at your feet, belly button, and hands. I like to use red for the two ends and yellow for the middle, so that it really stands out. Stand on the feet line, and when you jump back (with the spotter holding you!) watch your hands and look for that belly button tape.  Plant your hands on that middle tape for the turn-over and block, then push off to land on the hands tape.
