I don't want to learn the language but my stupid school put me in the class so now I'm locked in for 2 years. My dad put me in French back in April when we weren't even in school!, but for some odd reason they switched me out and now French is full so I can't switch back in. So now I started Spanish late and missed all the basics and my teacher goes so fast so I'm just sitting there in class with a confused look on my face and on top of that my teacher speaks only a little English so I can't ask her for help. Oh yeah the other students not so hopeful. Dora the explorer could teach me Spanish better than my teacher. My dad and his side of the family speaks French so I wouldn't forget the language and he could help me with my homework. I don't know anybody that speaks only Spanish so learning it right now would not be important and a waste of time cause I would forget it all so fast. Yeah so what if a lot people in America and all over the world are Spanish speakers. I'll learn it later in life with rosetta stone. I just don't feel the need to take it right now and I know I'm gonna fail the class. Right now I don't even care if I fail and I should but I don't. So how can I like Spanish more? I need to be inspired please help.

  4. Learning a new language, especially one that isn't from your own heritage can be daunting for anyone. Generally I can say I'm pretty interested in cultures, music, and languages and knowing another language can always be beneficial if not now, but even later in life - you never know. It's probably very frustrating right now because you're learning a language at such a fast pace that it discourages you. What I would do is probably learn about the culture more, see what makes it special (customs, history, food, music, etc) and maybe you'll appreciate new stuff that you learn in class (hence enjoying what you've learned!). The more interested you are, the more inclined you are to learn and pick up on the language. I'm sure you're teacher will see this too. By having a positive attitude and showing that you actually care about the class (instead of failing and not giving a sh*t), this shows the teacher you care and then ask the teacher again after class for extra help or where you can go to seek a beginners in the language. Chances are they'll probably help you if not lead you in the right direction. But, learn about the culture, try to learn as much as you can beforehand (spanish-online?) and see where and how far that gets you before giving up. Seems like you've got a few languages under your belt so I'm sure there are some similarities in languages. Don't give up, you can do it!
