  1. DO NOT REINSTALL

i know windows is supposed to save important files but in my experience, rarely saves them all.....i prefer 2 drives at least, or one split into 2 with all important stuff onto 2nd partition.

if you can get hold of something called 'hirens boot cd' this has password killers on, or get on another pc and do a search....dont know how 'techie' you are but this should be straight forward.

    keep in touch

  2. Tough, Vista is pretty strong in user password and if he also enable disc encryption there is no way to bypass it.I think your only option is to reinstall Vista(I hope you have the DVD) and install windows in the same partition. It is not recommended but you can retrieve your data. The old windows folder will be overwritten and your data will go in a folder named windows.old If you don't have the DVD and only the image in  the hard drive it gets complicated since some company's offer recovery by replacing the whole installation and others leave your data intact. If you have time and another computer you can take the hard drive out and connect it with a IDE/USB adapter to another computer. This will bypass the password but if he has enable encryption you are out of luck.

Another option is to trick him that there is something in the computer that has value to him and he may give you the password.

  3. Unlike windows XP ,Vista has pretty strong security .I'm afraid there is no trick around this since there is no build in admin account in safe mode as with windows XP

To the genius below.....how is she supposed to do that if she can't log on you malaka??

  4. I'll hope this helps somehow:

    http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

You will need another PC (which you seem to have..) to download the tool, burn to a disc, then put it in your problem PC and allow it to boot the system.

I have never used this on Vista (or anywhere else for that matter) but it seems to be the only one suggesting it may get a vista password.

  5. My advise is do not but if you still want to follow the below procedure... help is always on the way....;-)

If you do not share your computer with any other users and no one else has access to it, you can configure Vista to log you on automatically.

To do so, click Start and type netplwiz in the Search field and then press Enter. Click Continue when the User Account Control window appears. From the User Accounts window that appears, verify that your own user account is selected. Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer option and click OK. Provide the password for your user account when prompted and restart your computer. Vista will automatically log on with your user account.
