  1. I make my own version,I can of vegetable broth( I use homemade)chopped

celery & onion cooked in the broth then drop in the egg, You can add water if the flavor is to strong, but I doubt that it would be.

  2. The 2 lady's below the first are right, I make mine with veggie broth and I only use the whites more flowery, I flavour the broth with ginger, garlic, a bit of soya sauce and white pepper.

Just add the flavours and let them steep like tea, and then strain it out and when you want to make the egg drop flowers, then warm it, do not boil it and the swirl it and stream in the egg whites or whole eggs that is your decision, I even add a bit of sesame oil, a dash of cornstarch, beat the eggs foamy and the add them to the hot broth, best serve quickly or the start to darken, very fast.

  3. It would be pretty flavorless made with water. There is a box Not Chicken Broth on the market, I usually just use Veggie broth. Sometimes I add a little White Miso to it. yummy.

  4. the other answers are great but, i just recently got turned on to this really good broth made from Tamari & ginger - mmmmmmm

  5. Veggie broth.

  6. Use veggie broth or soy broth.  Trader Joe's has a soy ginger broth, ready made, that would work well for egg drop soup.

  7. miso soup ..... vegetable soup broth or bouillion.  If you used water, you'd have absolutely no flavor whatsoever!  You might as well just eat some scrambled eggs.......

  8. vegetable broth.

  9. try vegetable broth.

  10. You could use water, but it would turn out too bland.  I would use vegetable broth instead.

  11. Just use vegetable broth.  Water would work with enough flavoring.
