How can I make a computer power supply unit give a permanent 12V output?

I have an old unit from a computer and I would like to use the 6a 12v output as a stand alone power source. Is this easy to do. When I connect mains to the unit the fan soes not run and I get no output. This was working last week in an old computer of mine,

My guess is you didn't turn it on. Not only do you have to supply power, you have to turn it on by a switch, normally this is done through your motherboard.
