I'm making a Gorilla suit for Halloween, and I have everything down except the mask. How would I make a good looking, convincing and obviously gorilla-y mask which covers the whole head?

  1. I have two ideas. You can simply use a huge stuffed animal gorilla and cut the head of it off and use that or you can get onto the more fun side. Get a big balloon and blow it up to a size that will fit your head. Cover it will shreded newspaper and let it dry for 3 days straight. Then pop the balloon on the inside and then cut a hole on the bottem big enough for your head to go through. Then you have paint a gorilla face on it. I am going fast without detail because of thunderstorm so...good luck!

  2. Have your mom sit and pour a cast of her face.  Use it for the mask.

  3. go buy one at a mask shop (whatever the blast you people call it these days)

  4. Go look at gorillas and get good pictures, or find a bunch of pictures of the face from different angles.  Go home and carve a block of clay into a gorilla head about the same height as yours.  Paint latex onto the clay, let it dry, and pull it off.  Cut it up into eyebrow molds, cheekbone molds, etc.  oil the molds, and fill them with latex.  Glue the latex parts onto your face.  Cover your face and the latex with makeup, to make it blend in.  Glue costume hair around your face and comb it back.  Make sure you are using spirit gum, mask adhesive, or another theatrical product.  Don't use something like Krazy Glue, or you'll be a gorilla for weeks, waiting for your skin to shed the top layer.  Gorilla heads are flat on top, and pointed in the back, so you may want to pad your head and then cover it with costume hair.

  5. kill a gorilla and steal his face

  7. Use a latex head mask and cover it in patches of black fake fur.  Although, honestly, I think that you'd be better off just buying a mask.

Since masks can be hot, uncomfortable, and unsafe, I suggest that you use a temporary hair dye to dye your hair black then just cover your face in black face paint since gorillas don't have hair on their face to beging with, just around their face.  You'll be a lot more comfortable without a hot, sweaty mask on all night and you'll be a lot safer since you won't have your vision cut off by the mask.  Happy Haunting!
