I made one with an old freezer chest and a shop vac years ago before walmart was arround. It would get you cool but it was real loud.

Why would you want to when you can buy one at Walmart for less than $ 100.00 ?? It would cost you much more to buy the materials at retail to build one !

Get a cooking pan full of ice and put a fan on top of that. But ensure the pan is at an angle, leaning toward your sink or  to a plant. Ensure the pan has a drainage hole drilled through it and have it draining into your sink by attaching a rubber hose to it.... or just buy the A/C at Walmart.
