  1. do you have a steel,or iron,bucket....well if you do  take some wire hangers interwove them and place them on one of these.....oh put the charcoal in first.take some newspaper with you and there you could find some twigs to start a fire....    if you dont have a bucket do what I did when I forgot my grill I used a siliver basin the ones from my kitchen that I took to season my meat in, worked just fine, only I did not have hangers so I used couple rocks in there...I put it on top of the coals...and let me tell you that worked so good now I do not worry about forgetting my grill......have fun...

  2. This is pretty easy to answer

First go to Walmart or your local corporate Juggernaut retail chain.

Second you need to go to the lawn and garden section.

Third pay about 20-30 bucks on a mini grill

Fourth tell you friends it's a homemade grill.

Fifth after you use it return it and get your money back saying it's defective.

  3. If you didn't have only 4 hours I'm sure I could give you a much better idea. Dig a hole, line it with tin foil, put charcoal in it, light it, put a rack from your oven on top. That should work.

  4. Simplest approach would be to swing by the store and pick up a hibachi kit.

Still if you want to try something out of your kitchen, you might take a couple of cake pans, the deeper the better.  (no teflon coating in the one you will use for the charcoal).  Put the charcoal in one cake pan, and use the other (set on top) as the 'grill'.  A flat cookie sheet, or pizza pan might work as the 'grill' too.

Be careful about where you put the charcoal pan, as its going to be hot, lol... I wouldnt suggest using it on a tailgate, for example.

If youve got an old grill tray laying around that would work well over the charcoal holder.

Another option for the charcoal holder would be a metal bucket, but it would have to be clean... you wouldnt want to use one with paint or oil residue inside it, hehehe.

I'd just spring for the Hibachi myself, and save a lot of trouble.

  5. anything you can build it with has to not burn or melt.

or poison people - so don't try using a pan with Teflon.

    so cast iron would work

    so would bricks or concrete.

but i think it is safer and faster to buy a small grill.

there is a good chance that you will start the wrong kind of fire if you do this yourself out of handy things at home.

  6. Get some coat hangers and make skewers.

  7. If you have a gallon can and a beer can opener, you are in business.  Punch a series of holes around the bottom edge of the can (in the sides, not the bottom), and another series around the top.  Put a sheet of wadded up newspaper in the bottom of the can, a handful of charcoal pieces on top of the paper, put it in a safe place on the ground, and light the paper.  In ten to fifteen minutes, you are ready to cook.
