How can I make a monk robe?

I want to know how to make a monk costume. I want one that looks very authentic like then one in this link

  1. One would assume YOU can sew, or have access to someone who can. That might also be true then of having the fabric, and a pattern.

       The robe itself can be designed after a choir robe, or other clergy robe, which might be easier to come by for pattern making. The Hood can be two or more pieces.

I would suggest you look in the phone book for costume makers in your area, or organizations that recreate medieval battles, I am sure either of these would be helpful.  There might even be a pattern in one of the pattern books (Simplicity/Butterick/McCalls, etc.) at a fabric store!  I know there are patterns for many different types of costumes that can be made.  The other alternative is to go to a costume rental company and ask them where they purchased their's.  Good luck.
