I want to earn about $100 so I can adopt a kitten. That'll give me a bit left over "just in case".

How can I make it fast? Please tell me what YOU would do if you were eleven.(no prostitution suggestions, thanks.)

  1. YOu have to pay to adopt a kitten?  I know here in NYC you can adopt kittens for free, they also give them shots and spay/neuter them.  I would check out your local ASPCA to find out.

  2. babysit? lemonade stand? you sound ready so keep it up and i say youll do fine

  3. Well, factor in the adoption fee plus a big bag of cat food, a big bag of cat litter, a litter box, some toys, a carrier to get kitty home from the adoption site in, maybe a window perch for kitty, and then of course food and litter expenses come up every 2 weeks. So you should probably save up $300 to get started. Pets aren't something you should have unless you can afford them without worry. You can't let kitty starve because you don't have cash. Don't forget you will need to pay for vet expenses at least once a year... and should have $200 saved up "just in case" kitty gets hurt and you need to do an emergency pet run. Will kitty need some flea meds for the rest of the summer? What about an ID tag and collar? This is an indoor cat, right? Maybe a cat brush too? And you will need a good scratch pad since mom and dad don't want kitty to ruin their sofa.... the list goes on.

As far as raising the $300-500, I think you could mow grass or weed gardens for neighbors... maybe you could walk some neighbor dogs... you could even put up an ad that says you will clean litter boxes for people! What a good way to prepare for kitty's arrival.

  4. You sound very mature and ready to take on this challenge!  I am not sure a good answer but there are always ads in the paper for free kittens and where we live in VA lots of people that take in stray cats and rescue them. Maybe if you ask around you could find a free cat and maybe someone to donate some used items to you?  I'd also check out some yardsales, thrift stores, etc. if you can get to them and try to find some good deals on the supplies.  Have you checked craigslist?  Around here I find lots of good deals on there. Hope that helps and good look to you!

  5. It costs a lot more than a $100 to raise a kitten.  They need food, litter boxes, litter, toys, medicines, vaccines, collar, etc.   Most of all love.  Are you ready to devote a lot of time and money to a kitten.  Sure they are cute.  What happens if you or someone else in your house is allergic?  Then it has to find a new home.

How about using your love for animals and volunteering at the local animal shelter instead?  Good luck.
